Black Mountain - Jim C. Gilliam, 77, of 106 Alexander St., Black Mountain, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital.
Mr. Gilliam was born April 18, 1928, in Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Ed and Hettie Painter Gilliam. Mr. Gilliam retired from Beacon Mfg. in 2000 after 56 years of service. He was a great husband, loving father to his son, Stan. He loved and cared for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Bernice Gragg Gilliam of the home; son, Stan and wife, Diane, of Black Mountain; sisters, Faye Connor and Marie Nesbett, both of Hendersonville, Opal and husband, the Rev. Bill Walker of Landrum, S.C.; grandchildren, Kenneth Gilliam and Debbie of Fletcher, Kelly and husband, Shane Laughter, of Fletcher and Brandon Moore of Black Mountain; great-grandchildren, Katy, Tyler, Kyle and Kendall of Fletcher; several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mountain View Memorial Park with the Rev. Frank Cantrell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church.
