Floyd was born at the family farm in Eildon, Tugaske area Sask. on July 13, 1918 He moved with his parents to Battleford, Sask. where his father Wesley leased a farm, it was located on the road to Cutknife, just up the hill from the Old Battle River bridge, about two miles out of Battleford.
Floyd's father was a heavy drinker, and a mean drunk, he would take it out on his family, Floyd's mother suffered the most, She took her own life May 9, 1933.

Floyd attended Battleford Central School, he was promoted to grade one senior on July 3, 1926 his teacher's name was Hope Bacocks, Floyd was a nice kid. Floyd used to ride a pony to school, while at school he housed his pony in an old barn across the street from Fred G. Atkinson.

Floyd, who was not a physically strong person, was partially handicapped. His hips had been dislocated at birth; a result of a difficult delivery, and because of lack of proper medical treatment, at the time, his hips had not developed properly. He was able to walk but was unable to do any type of heavy work.

Inscription

Floyd Harris's friend Art Carlson buried his ashes at the foot of one of their friends grave, in the Surrey Center Cemetery, there is no record of Floyd's burial.
