"Fred W. Schroeder, 85, of 4035 Avondale Drive, died at 9:15 p.m. yesterday in the Lutheran hospital where he had been a patient for four days.
A lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Mr. Schroeder was a member of the Zion Lutheran church and was formerly employed by the old Western Gas Construction company. He retired 10 years ago as a custodian at South Side High School.
Survivors include four sons, Herbert of Ligonier, and Clarence, Albert, and Arthur, all of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Chandler, Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Schwier of Kendallville.
