Son of the late George W. Arnold and Martha Smith Arnold, Charles H. was born Jan. 14, 1869 in Sefton township. On Dec. 24, 1893 in Fayette County he was united in marriage with Rhoda E. Bullington who preceded him in death Aug. 29,. 1955 at Brownstown. Mr. Arnold, a lifelong resident of Fayette county, had lived the greater portion of his career on a farm.
Surviving daughters are Mrs. Ruby Willms, Mrs. Murrell Harris, and Mrs. Martha Koehler, all of Vandalia; Mrs. Dorothy Green of Edwardsville and Mr. Edith Ray of Brownstown. Mrs. Leah Koehler is deceased. He also leaves sisters, Mrs. Nan Sefton of St. Elmo and Mrs. Dora Sapp of Brownstown; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. One brother is deceased.
Mr. Arnold was affiliated with the Liberty Christian Church. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
