Margaret C. Hiitter Snyder was born in Chicago, Illinois, June 24, 1874. At the age of five, she moved with her parents to Albany, Nebraska and lived there for twelve years, then coming to Kansas. On December 3, 1896, she was united in marriage to Frank Snyder of Sylvan Grove, Lincoln County, Kansas. They lived in Russell County, Kansas for a short time before moving to Brookville, Saline County, Kansas where they resided until 1943. Then they came to their home north of Lincoln, Lincoln County, Kansas. To her family she was known as Maggie. She departed this life at her home north of Lincoln, Lincoln County, Kansas October 25, 1947. Ten children were born to this union: Mary (Snyder)Meirose, Daisy (Snyder) Surface, Clara (Snyder) Rundquist, Ellen (Snyder) Horn, Harry Snyder, William Snyder, John Snyder, George Snyder, Clifford Snyder and a son who died in infancy. She was survived by four grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters at the time of her death. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Christian Church in Lincoln, Lincoln County, Kansas.
