CUMBERLAND — Floellen N. "Flo" Persons, 79, of Cumberland, passed from this world to join her loved ones in heaven on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Born Oct. 16, 1927, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John W. Stafford Sr. and Elsie Mae (Messick) Stafford. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Olive Witt, Josephine Wentling, Martha Baker and Viola Wentling; and one brother, John W. Stafford Jr.

Mrs. Persons was formerly employed by C&P; Telephone Company as a telephone operator. She later became a homemaker. She attended Fort Hill High School and was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, Cumberland, where she was a member of the church choir. She was also a former member of the Frostburg American Legion Auxiliary.

Flo was a warm, fun loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed life to the fullest and her greatest joy on earth was being with her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Alvin K. "Al" Persons; three daughters, Cynthia K. Snyder and husband Ron, LaVale, Peggy L. Scarpelli and husband John, Frostburg and Sheila M. Ricker and husband Terry, LaVale; one son, John C. Persons and wife Karen, Cumberland; grandchildren, Mickey C. McGeady and Amber Hare, Cumberland, John T. McGeady and fiancé Keisha Miller, Westernport, Krysten E. Snyder, LaVale, Jenna E. Snyder, LaVale, Justin T. Scarpelli and Emily Neral, Frostburg, Leah M. Scarpelli, graduate student at Rutgers University, Matthew P. Scarpelli, Tucson, Ariz., Rachel L. Scarpelli, Frostburg, Seth A. Ricker, LaVale, Brianna L. Persons, Student at McDaniel College, Austin J. Persons, Cumberland, Julia G. Persons, Cumberland; three great-grandchildren, Brennan T. McGeady, Liam W. McGeady and Adina R. Scarpelli; two sisters-in-law, Jane Stafford, Boernie, Texas, and Marquerite Denton, Fort Worth, Texas; brother-in-law, LaMar Wentling, Cumberland and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at noon with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mickey C. McGeady, John T. McGeady, Justin T. Scarpelli, Matthew P. Scarpelli, Seth A. Ricker and Austin J. Persons.
