Started this cemetery when his wife was refused Christian burial at the St. Benedict Parrish. Frances died of pneumonia when their son was only a few months old. She had been unable to make her Easter duty and therefore refused her burial there. Edward then made his own cemetery on his land on a knoll across from the old stone house.
Edward came from Iowa to Kansas in 1858 and filed a homestead claim in Section 11, Clear Creek Township, Nemaha County, Kansas. He broke the sod with oxen, built a log cabin and a barn. He acquired 640 acres of land.
Edward also served as County Commissioner and was active in community affairs.
Edward and his wife Frances were blessed with a family of ten children.
