Dana Gutherie Dies Friday of Short Illness

Dana Lynn Guthrie, 14, died Friday, Feb. 7, in Collingsworth General Hospital after a short illness.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Guthrie, who live northwestof Wellington, and a 9th grade student in Wellington High School.

Dana was a member of the high school girls junior varsity basketball team and of the Wellington High School chapter of Future Homemakers of America. She belonged to Quail Baptist Church. Dana was born July 9, 1971, in Wellington and grew up at the family home near town.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 pm Sunday, February 9 in First Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev Elvis Pitts, pastor of Quail Baptist Church, and the Rev Jeff Messer, pastor of McLean Baptist Church. Burial was in Quail Cemetery under the direction of Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers were Harold Caldwell, Clovis McCary, Sonny Arthur, Chris Ward, D R Langley and George Barton. Honorary pallbearers were members of the 9th grade of Wellington High School.

Survivors are her parents, Mr and Mrs Guthrie; two brothers, Mike Guthrie of Arlington, and Terry Guthrie of Wellington; four sisters, Kathy Rodriguez and Robbie Guthrie, both of Albuquerque, NM, Melissa Guthrie of Houston, Kay Brewer of eeville; and a grandmother, Mrs Susie Kidwell.
