Mrs. Dicie Elizabeth Scherer, 94, lifelong resident of Richland County, and fine citizen of Olney for the past thirty years, died early Sunday morning at her home. Her home was at 920 East Butler Street.

Mrs. Scherer was born March 28, 1876 in Claremont Township, daughter of the late David and Lenora Decker Hanes. She was united in marriage to Christian F. Scherer on November 4, 1894, in German Township, and he passed away June 14, 1963.

She was a true and faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the Oak Ridge community club for many years, and was an honorary member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edna Scherer of Olney, Mrs. Leila Schahrer of Bakersfield, California; two sons, Byron Scherer of Mendocino, California and Ray Bernard Scherer of Delta, Colorado; two brothers, Rev. Fred Hanes of Anderson, Indiana and Raymond Hanes of Phoenix; one sister, Mrs. Mary Crum of Woodland Park, Colorado; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Aileen Kemp in 1922; four brothers and three sisters.

The family has requested that friends wishing to offer Memorials, may do so, if they wish in the form of Memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorial envelopes are available at the Schaub Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Glenn R. Leaf officiating. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.
