Louisiana Marriages, 1718-1925
about George W. Albritton
Name: George W. Albritton
Spouse: Sarah A. Cassels
Marriage Date: 20 Jan 1859
Marriage Place: Catahoula

George W. Albritton was the son of Jesse Albritton and Mary Rogers.
Jesse Albritton was the son of James Albritton and Delany Kent.
James Albritton was the son of American Revolutionary War Patriot, Richard Albritton.
The Daughters of the American Revolution do not list Richard Albritton's marriage to Mary Hart, they simply put "Ann" as the wife of Richard Albritton. So if you want to apply for membership in DAR, please check most recent approved applications or contact me to save yourself problems with the application.

The last wife of Richard Albritton was supposedly Ann Flint Sibley, widow of Isaac Sibley. This marriage is not proven to today's standards, and she was still married to Issac Sibley when Richard Albritton's children were born. So, the use of the name "Ann" as his first wife is incorrect. If Richard married Ann Flint Sibley just prior to his death, then he married the widowed mother of his daughters husband, as that is who she was.
Albritton Family records, and well accepted researchers all have his first wife and mother of his children as Mary Hart, but DAR is still using "Ann" because in his will, he named his wife as "Ann". Even if you believe he married Ann Flint Sibley, she was not the mother of his children. But you have to put "Ann" as his wife on the DAR applications.
