SAWYER -- Kay Eileen Lovett, 57, of Sawyer passed away at 10:10 a.m. on June 2, 2004, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Kay was born Sept. 15, 1946, at her-grandmother Nimtz's home on South Elm Street in Three Oaks. She was a 1964 graduate of Three Oaks High School and graduated from Elkhart Dental School. She also attended Indiana University at South Bend, Lake Michigan College, and Western Michigan University.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 4, at Boyd-Pike Funeral Home in Bridgman from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Harbert Community Church on Saturday, June 5, starting at 11 a.m. A private family graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Chikaming Township. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society Berrien County Cancer Service, Hospice at Home, or Harbert Community Church. She worked in the orthodontics field in St. Joseph, at Dr. Stephen's office for 16 years before moving to the medical arena at Southwestern Medical Clinic in Bridgman. She spent her last years at SWMC as the Clinical Research Coordinator. The majority of the clinical studies were for diabetes patients. Kay was a dedicated worker and kind friend to all. Some of Kay's fondest hobbies were traveling, shopping, working outside in the garden, and flower arranging.

Kay was a loving wife, mother, and always put other people first. She is survived by her husband, Roger, whom she married June 16, 1967; daughter, Janis (Dale) Mach of Baroda; son, Cameron of Mount Pleasant, Mich.; brother, Fred (Marcia) Ackerman of Vicksburg, Mich.; and brother, William (Margo) Ackerman of Galien.
