James William Brashears, 43, died at his home in Marshall, Texas Sunday. A former resident of this city, he was born at Elkins Oct. 21, 1921, the son of Bruce Brashears and Eva Tucker Brashears, but moved here with his parents in his early youth. James attended funeral services for his father here less than a month ago, on April 24.
He attended Huntsville schools, was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, a Veteran of World War Two, having served in the United States Navy, and at the time of his death was an Electrical Engineer for Southwestern Gas and Electric Co. in Texas. He was a member of the Episcopal Church at Marshall, Texas.
Survivors are his wife, Gloria, of the home; a son, Bruce Fred Brashears who is serving with the U.S. Navy; two daughters, Kay and Kakii Brashears of the home; his mother, Mrs. Bruce Brashears, of Huntsville; two brothers, Felix Brashears of Huntsville, and Jack Brashears of Springdale; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack Stanley of Lewisville, Ark. and Miss Marian Brashears of Fayetteville.
Funeral services were held at the Marshall Episcopal Church Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock with the minister, Father Ed Haffner, officiating. The body was returned here where it lay in state at the Brashears Funeral Home from 12 o'clock until 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Services were held at the graveside here at 3 p.m. by Rev. Haffner.
