Isaac J. Ackerson was born in Freeport, Ill., Dec.25, 1854 and died in Parkersburg, Iowa on October 21, 1924, aged 69 years, 9 months, and 26 days.

In 1855 he moved with his parents to Butler county on a farm near New Hartford, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. On June 21, 1878, he was united in marriage to Olive DeLyria of Ackley, Iowa, and to this union two children were born, Mrs. Lucinda Vaughn and Joseph Ackerson, both of Brainerd, Minn. as well as William "Will" W. Ackerson.

In October, 1882, his wife died, and on June 21,1884 he was united in marriage to Mary Alice Luck of New Hartford, Iowa, and to this union six children were born, Mrs. Nellie McCaffery of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Henry R. of Plainfield, Iowa, Mrs. Carrie E. Tucker of Sandstone, Minn., Mrs. Lyda Tomkins of Waterloo, Iowa, Howard of Parkersburg and Robert at home.

They were at his bedside when he passed away except for Mrs. Tucker who is in poor health and unable to come.

Mr. and Mrs. Ackerson lived with their family on their farm near Swanton until eleven years ago when they moved to Parkersburg, Iowa, where they resided until the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his untimely death, a wife, his six children, seventeen grandchildren, five brothers and one sister.

His daughter, Mrs.McCaffery spent the summer here caring for her father. He was a great sufferer from cancer since February. He was always patient and thoughtful for the welfare of others. He was a kind and loving husband and father, an honorable and upright man and citizen and always had a kind word and a smile for everyone, especially the children who were all his friends.

During the last six weeks of his illness he was bed fast, but during that time he was converted and baptized by Rev. Northrop of the Congregational church and died a firm believer in his savior. He was conscious to the end and bid all his family goodbye.

The funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, a short prayer at the home at 1:30 and 2:00 at the Congregational church. The M. W. A. attended in a body and he was laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery with Woodsman's honors. The pallbearers were J.R. Strickland, L.B. Hamilton, G.W. Card, J. Romelfanger, J. Mitchell and C.C. Young. The hymns sang were "Drifting Down the Valley", "He Walks With Me and He talks With Me", and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" rendered by Rev. Northrop, Mrs. Elmberg, Mrs. Northrop and Mr. Richardson.
