Weldon was the son of Hiram E. & Maudie Lillian (Poteet) Gillian.

Weldon Wayne Gillian,Sr ., 66, of Dallas formerly of Conway, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001.

Born May 10, 1934, in Conway, a son of Maudie Poteet Gillian and the late Hiram Gillian, he was a graduate of Conway High School, Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas)and Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Mesquite, Texas, and taught the Voataries and Booster Sunday school classes. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 71 in Dallas and the International Good Neighbor Council. He worked for American National Insurance of 25 years and Dial Dunkin and Associates for 17 years.

Other survivors are his wife, Ruby Jean Gillian; a son, Weldon Wayne "Jay" Gillian Jr.; and a brother, Dr. George Edward Gillian.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway. Arrangements are by Restland Funeral Home of Dallas and Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Conway.

Pallbearers will be Ron Herring, Joe Southerland, Bill Nutter, Kevin Gillian, Kris Gillian and Kipp Gillian.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roller-McNutt.
