The oldest child of Civil War veteran, James Foreman Lippincott and Jane Smith Vance Lippincott, John David Lippincott was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania on January 7, 1868. "Little John", as he was known to his family, was married first to Noma Schlegel on December 20, 1893 in Pennsylvania. To this union were born the following children;
Ora Elizabeth L. 4/15/1894,
Opal Verdilla L. 6/01/1896,
Otis Pearl L. 12/09/1899,
Moses Marmion L. 3/23/1903,
David Vance L. 9/20/1904,
Charles Edwin L. 9/17/1907
All were born at home on the family farm on Elm Island in Hall County, Nebraska.
After Noma's passing in 1924, John married Suzanna Newton, who preceeded him in death in September of 1942.
