Rebecca Jane Cotter was the daughter of James Riley "Buck" Cotter and his wife Elizabeth McNeese Cotter. She married Jonathan P. Johnson on November 10, 1844, in Greene County, MO, and they had 10 children: James C., Elizabeth J., Mary Ann (Brown), Hannah Eliza (Cameron), Benjamin F., John C., Rebecca M. (Grubbs), Clinton Jefferson, Sarah Margaret (Carter), and Nancy H. (Some sources also list a son George W. b. 1860 d. 1943, but I do not find him listed with the family in the 1860, 1870, or 1880 censuses - if anyone has more information on him please let me know.)
