Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Peterson, 95, former longtime Maddock area resident, were held Monday, August Z7th at 2 p.m. from the Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Maddock with Rev. Dale G. Seffrood officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Peterson died on Thursday, August 23rd at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minn.
Organist was Mrs. Margaret and soloist was Mr. Vernon Jacobson.
Pallbearers were James Carlson, Curtis Liudahl, Robert Liudahl, Wayne Liudahl, William Reese and David Tengesdal. The Nelson Funeral Home of Maddock was in charge of arrangements.
Alma E. Sigmundstad was born May 13, 1889, near Fergus Falls, Minn., to Engebret and Agnetta Solberg Sigmundstad. She left Minnesota in when her family moved to a farm near Minnewaukan, N.D. Alma later lived with a sister in Albert Township, Benson County, N.D. from 1905 until her marriage to H. Garfield Peterson on March 10, near Maddock, N.D. The couple had farmed north of Maddock for nearly 40 years with exception of a 4 year residence in Harlow, N.D., where they operated a general store.
They retired into Maddock in 1948. Since the death of Mr. Peterson in August of 1979, Alma has made her home with her daughters at various locations in N.D. and MN. More recently, she had been a resident of the Lake Region Nursing Home in Fergus Falls.
