Milligan Clark Woody, my great-grandfather, was born January 7, 1842, in Dahlonega, Georgia, the son of Reverend Josiah Askew Woody and Rausey Malinda "Rosa" Bryan.

He married Susan(nah) Ann Hallum in Dahlonega on November 10, 1878. He and Susan had three children:
1. Lillie Belle Woody born in 1879;
2. Homer Milligan Woody born in 1881;
and
3. my grandmother Martha Naomi "Oma" Woody born in 1884 in Big Cabin, Oklahoma.
Susan passed away about 2 or 3 years after the birth of Martha on April 26, 1886 in Maysville, Arkansas. The three children were then raised by a childless couple Samuel Archibald Duree and his wife Rhoda Lauderbaugh/Louderbaugh-Duree. Lillie Woody was the oldest and I am told she was not raised by the Duree Family because she was old enough to work and stayed with the familys she worked for.
Milligan was also married to Julieann Jenkins Castleberry, born in 1844, and they had 5 children:
1. Mary Louisa "Molly" Woody born 1860;
2. Morgan F. Woody born 1861;
3. Sidney Foss Woody born 1865,
4. Nora G Woody born 1869; and
5. William Francis Woody born in 1873.
Julieann Jenkins "Julia" Castleberry was born October 4, 1844 in Lumpkin County, Georgia. Records indicate she married Milligan Clark Woody on 25 September 1859 there, although a few indicate about 1871. She would have been 15 in 1859.
This would be roughly the year Julia passed away. It is noted that there is a 4 year gap between the birth of Nora and William and some records have him born in 1873 and his mother dying in 1871.
Milligan Clark Woody was my great-grandfather.
