Funeral services for Celia Korns were held at 1:30 PM, Friday, September 19th, 1997, in the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Rev. Ronald Van Heukelom officiated. The organist was Anedra Sherwood and the soloist was William Korns. Casket Bearers were Robert Gritsch, Roger Gritsch, Ed Wells, Gene Gritsch, Dennis Gritsch and Garrett Zoet. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.

Celia Kathryn Gritsch Korns, daughter of John and Bettie Niswander Gritsch, Sr., was born May 27, 1905, in Brooklyn, Iowa.
She graduated from the Brooklyn High School and taught in rural schools for five years.
She married Nelson Rowland Korns on May 27, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa. They farmed north of Brooklyn until moving into Brooklyn in 1960. Mr. Korns died June 21, 1978. Since November of 1990 Celia has been a resident of Friendship Manor.
Mrs. Korns was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was active in United Presbyterian women locally and in the Presbytery and Tri-c's. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge of Brooklyn and various card clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nelson, four brothers one of whom who died at birth; and one granddaughter, Marcy Korns.
Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Beverly and Francis Creps of Brooklyn; two sons and their wives, Charles and Marion Korns of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Marvin and Martina Korns of Brooklyn; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren
