She immigrated to the United States at the age of 3 settling in New York City. She later moved to North Plainfield, NJ where she met Elpidio "Peter" Croat, whom she married on June 1, 1947 in Santa Barbara, CA, and had a fairy tale marriage. She had resided in Bedminster, NJ from 1962 until 2003 when she moved to Pleasant Mount, PA to be near her daughter. While living in New York City, Bertha worked as a beautician. She enjoyed pottery, cooking, sewing and spending time with family. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church in Far Hills, NJ.
Bertha was a loving mother who raised a family of 10 children, Peter Anthony, Joseph Paul, William Ralph,Ralph Michael, Lorraine Ann Fenstermacher, Richard Allen, Anita Louise Zack, PA, Carl Joseph, Sandra Marie Longo , and Charles Arnold. of Bethlehem. She had 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
