Shawnee resident Paul Hendershot died Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Shawnee at the age of 75.

He was born March 12, 1935 in Macomb to Philo and Janie Lucinda (Youtsey) Hendershot. Born and reared in Macomb, his family moved to Tulsa in 1944. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1954.

On Dec. 24, 1955 he married Martha Lucille Johnson in Tecumseh. They lived in Tulsa, Colorado and Wisconsin before moving to Shawnee in 1962, where they have lived ever since.
He was a machinist and tool maker, working for General Electric, Oktronics, Barton Valve, Wayne Manufacturing, and retiring from UPONOR.

He was on the Board of Trustees for Mars Hill Cemetery. He was a member of Saint Mark's United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, having served as a Trustee; lay delegate for annual conference and had served as treasurer for the past few years.

In his younger years he achieved the level of First Class Boy Scout, and was an avid softball player. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and gardening; keeping up with pro baseball and was an avid antique collector.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 29, 1997, his parents, and one brother Gale Hendershot. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Randy Lauderdale of Shawnee; three sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and London Hendershot of Newalla, Warren and Sheila Hendershot of Tecumseh, and Chester and Linda Hendershot of Shawnee; two sisters, Edith Jameson and Elsie Jameson, both of Amherst, Neb.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Charles and Dorothy Hendershot of Whitney, Texas, and Chester and Sydnalea Hendershot of Woodward; special friend, Beulah Gay; 12 grandchildren, Cambria and Carson Lauderdale, Kyle, Nicolas, Chester Jr., Jordan, Courtney and Jade Hendershot, Gilletta, Jason, Jacob & Joshua Talkington; great-granddaughter, Seren Talkington; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will be at Mars Hill Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
