GEORGE W. AIKEN

George W. Aiken, 81, of Dock Manor Apartments, Detweiler road, Lansdale, died Tuesday in Grand View Hospital, Sellersville, where he had been a patient three days. He had been in failing health several years.
He resided at Dock Manor since March 1, and formerly live on Unionville pike in Hatfield.
Born in Durham, N.C., he was the son of the late Charles and Georgeanna Evans Aiden.
Mr. Aiken had worked as a full-fashion knitter and was employed by the former Signature Hosiery Co. in North Wales, and last by the Granite Hosiery Co. of Souderton, retiring in 1971. He then worked part-time several years for EA Machine Co. Skippack.
He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Sellersville.
Surviving are his widow, Virginia Boyles Hartman Aiken; a daughter, Juel B. Aiken of Hatfield; two stepdaughters, Virginia, wife of Charles e. Dietterich of Souderton, and Lillian B., wife of John W. Solliday of Lansdale; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillie Woods and Mary Pendergraph both of Durham, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Vera Boyles, in 1967.
Services will be Friday evening. The Virgil G. Sommers Funeral Home, Telford, is in charge of arrangements.
