Mrs. Nellie Dae Werner
Mrs Nellie Dae Werner, 94, 1135 College, formerly of 1290 High, died Thursday, Aug. 9, at a Topeka hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Werner wrote and had published histories of Lowman United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Home, both in Topeka.
She was born Dec. 1, 1889, at Seneca, the daughter of Elijah N. and Mary Elizabeth Pliss Hanks. She attended Seneca public schools and lived in Topeka since 1922.
Mrs. Werner was a member of Lowman Memorial Methodist Church and Lowman United Methodist Church since 1923. She was the first president of the Woman's Society for Christian Service of the Kansas Methodist Conference from 1940 until 1945 and was treasurer of the South CentraBoard of Missions from 1940 until 1960.
She was married to Hugh Werner Nov. 3, 1909, at Seneca. He died Oct. 30, 1958. A son Hugh Werner, Jr., died in 1960, and a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Werner Wasson, died in 1968.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Mrs. Julie Peck, Coral Springs, Fla., and Ken Wasson, San Jose, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mulvane Chapel at the United Methodist Home, 1135 College. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lowman United Methodist ssions of Methodist Churches from 1952 until 1956 and was treasurer of Kansas Conference of the Board of Missions from 1940 until 1960.
