Obituary from The Bienville Democrat November 5, 1964:

Mrs. Sarah Ethel Poland, 90, of Bienville died Sunday night at the Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston after a long illness. She was a lifelong resident of the Bienville community, where she was born October 2, 1874. She was the widow of W.A. Poland.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Bienville Methodist Church and were conducted by the Rev. G.A. McVay, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Jesse Smith, pastor of the Bienville Baptist Church. Burial was in the Camp Ground Cemetery.

Mrs. Poland is survived by four sons, three daughters; one brother, W.W. Horton of West Monroe, and a half-brother, A.C. Leonard of Shreveport; 23 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Her sons and daughters are Claude, Henry G., and L.R. Poland, all of Bienville; Lonnie Poland of Jonesboro; Mrs. Fred R. Hayton and Mrs. Horace Josey of West Monroe, and Mrs. J.D. Brunston of Mereaux, La.
