James J. Buckner, 69, former mine foreman for the Providence Coal Mining Company, died at 8:20 o'clock Thursday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Ramsey, and Mr. Ramsey with whom he made his home.
Mr. Buckner had been in ill health for some time, suffering from heart trouble. He was a former Mason, a member of the Odd Fellows and a member of the Christian church.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Ramsey, Mrs. Tom Williams, Mrs. Abb Rich, and Mrs. Clyde Pemberton, city, and Mrs. James Vaughn, Detroit; four sons, Louis, Robert, and Weldon, city, and Fred of Detroit.
Last rites were conducted at the residence of Mrs. Ramsey on Saturday morning with the Rev. Maurice Davis in charge.
Burial was in the Big Hill cemetery.
