Immigrated with brothers Samuel and Bud to America in 1850. Thomas settled in Mississippi.
Upon hearing that a family friend had immigrated to St. Louis, he migrated there. He and Catherine Hartigan were married there on Dec. 27, 1851. From St. Louis, the migrated to Huntsville, Texas.
Father of James Maurice "Jim" Ray, Thomas William Ray Jr., Mary Ellen "Mollie" Ray, David Dennis Ray, and John Hartigan Ray.
He was shot and killed in New Year's gathering in Field Store that erupted in gunfire.
