Robert Edward Nelson Sr. was born in Columbia, Fluvanna County, Virginia and died in Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. He was a Pharmacist. Robert and Pauline married on November 5, 1924 in Washington, D.C.. They had twin sons, Bobby (Robert Edward Jr) and Billy (William Carrington Nelson), born June 28, 1925 in Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia. The boys were raised in Fluvanna. The twins enlisted in the military on August 22, 1944 in Richmond, Virginia to serve in the later days of WWII. Less than a year later Billy was killed in action in Germany.
