Mary Louise Burnidge, 84, of Elgin died Saturday, January 6, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
    She was born December 1, 1916 in Wilmington, Ohio, the daughter of Roy and Mary Babb.
    She had been a resident of Elgin since 1945 and was a teacher with School District U-46 before retiring. She was a member of the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren and a member of the Teachers Sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa.
    Surviving are her husband, Clarence Burnidge; a daughter, Linda (Richard) Rouse of Elgin; a son, Robert (Donita) Helman of Benicia, California; two step daughters, Judy Lynn (Merrill) Kallenbach of Aurora, IL and Gini Hoover of Elgin; two step sons, Roger (Donna) Burnidge and Bill (Sandra) Burnidge, both of Elgin; five grandchildren; and eight step grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Emerison Helman in 1976; and a sister.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 AM in the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren with Rev. Don Shank officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
    Friends may call in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM and then on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 AM until time of services.
    Memorials may be given to the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren, Church Organ Fund.
