When Moses Hampton Denman was born in October 1839 in Cobb County, Georgia, his father, Moses, was 36 and his mother, Elizabeth Harvey Randal, was 36.

Moses was in Cherokee County, Texas by 1850, living with his parents and siblings: William P, Albert H, Mary J, Elizabeth H, and Octavia L A.

By 1860 he was married to Victoria F Oliver as the 1860 census shows them living in Houston County, Texas at ages 19 and 17.

The 1870 census has them still living in Houston County now with two daughters: Vdora and Laura. They had five children together: Vdora "Dora", Laura Ann, William D, Della, and Oda Carrie. As Oda was born 7 Oct 1875, she would have been the daughter of Moses and Victoria.

After Victoria passed in about 1876, he then married Ruth Ella Morrison on 23 Dec 1876, the daughter of Thomas Benton Morrison and Lydia A Hendricks.

The 1880 census shows he had remarried and had one daughter with Ruth, her name was Nora.
