James T. Cain
James Cain, 85, of Lynnwood, Washington, died April 26, 2008. Caroline, his wife of 65 years, was at his side.
He was born on September 17, 1922 in Oakton, South Dakota to Thomas and Hattie Cain. Jim and Caroline were married on February 11, 1943 in Vancouver, Washington, and have lived in Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood for over 55 years.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and a civil servant with the Department of the United States Navy. He retired in 1978 after 32 years of service. His most memorable time was when he and Caroline were assigned to Exmouth, Australia for four years. They had many grand adventures and loved to travel.
Jim was a 4th Degree Knight actively involved with the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He enjoyed cooking special dinners for his fellow Knights and loved a good joke, especially one he could pass on to his friends. He was known for his love of family, fishing, and fun.
Jim was preceded in death by his father; mother; brother, Chuck; and his oldest son, Bobby.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline; his son, Dale (Sherry), of Everett, WA; daughter, Carol (Randy) Halverson, of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2008, St. Pius X, 22209 – 58th Ave. W, Mountlake Terrace. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2008, also will be at St. Pius X. There will be a reception following the mass with internment immediately after at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or Knights of Columbus.
