John Chipman, age 68, of Boyne City, died on Wednesday
evening, Nov. 17, 2004, in Charlevoix.

John was born on Aug. 19, 1936, in Boyne City, the son of Allie and Beatrice (Sickles) Chipman. He grew up in Boyne City and later joined the United States Navy.


In 1976, John had an unfortunate fall that left him paralyzed. Since that accident many years ago, John has spent much of his time at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.

John was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Phillip and Willard.

He is survived by his three brothers, Allie "Bud" (Carol) Chipman, Samuel (Pam) Chipman and Cecil Chipman; several aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.

The family would like memorial contributions to be directed to the American Legion, 302 S. Lake, Boyne City, Mich. 49712.

Stackus Funeral Home of Boyne City is serving the family.
