Boyne City Child dies of Cancer

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City for Phillip Chipman,7 year old son of Mr. & Mrs. Allie Chipman of Boyne City, who died last night at home, 762 State st., after an illness of several months. Rev. William Smith will officiate and interment will be in Maplelawn Cemetery.

Phillip was stricken with cancer of the lymph glands in February and had been a patient at University Hospital, Ann Arbor and at Little Traverse Hosptial in Petoskey.

He was born at Petoskey on January 9, 1953 and attended Boyne City elementary schools before his illness.

In addition to his parents he is survived by five brothers; William and Samuel of Boyne City, John, serving in the U.S. Navy on Midway Island, Allie L. of Tampa, Fla., and Cecil at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr.& Mrs. Willard Sickles of Mancelona; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Orel Boughton of Eagle,Michigan and paternal grandfather Alexander Chipman of Durandt, Michigan.

The body was taken to the Stackus Funeral Home in Boyne City where friends may call after noon on Saturday.
