Austin, Tex. - The funeral of General William R. Hamby was held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock from St. Mary's Catholic Church, the services being conducted by Rev. Father John O'Keefe, pastor of the church, assisted by several priests from St. Edward's College. The funeral oration was delivered at the cemetery by Rev. Father J. M. Kirwin, vicar general of Galveston. Members of the Knights of Columbus attended the funeral in a body as did also the members of John B. Hood Camp of Confederate Veterans, both of which organizations the decdent was an honored member.
The pallbearers were: Honorary, Major George W. Littlefield, Dr. E. P. Wilmot, Lewis Hancock, Sam Sparks, William Bohn, J. J. Davis, H. Goldstein, D. B. Gracy, A. F. Martin, David Harrell, E. H. Perry and D. T. Iglehart; active, Chester Thrasher, R. E. Chambers, W. L. Johnson, Charles D. Casey, Lee Kuhn, W. B. Peterson, R. E. Carrington and T. J. Rowsce Jr. Interment in Mount Calvary cemetery.
