GLADSTONE (Special) Homer William Hughes, 72, 785 Yale Street, Gladstone, died Saturday morning at an Oregon City hospital following a short illness.
Hughes, a retired farmer, was born March 31, 1882 at Fairfield, Nebraska. He came to the Portland area from Nebraska in 1943 and had lived in Gladstone for the past three years. He was a member of the Gladstone Christian Church.
Survivors include the widow, Catherine; two sons, Marvin, Oregon City; Wilbur, Portland; a brother, Winfield Hughes, Newberg; 5 sisters in the east and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Weds. at Hillside Chapel in Oregon City. Rev. Howard Hutchins, Oregon City, will officiate and burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Fund.
