Funeral services for Mrs. R. N. (Sarah) Hammond, 94, who had been an Olney resident for half a century, were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday from the Olney First Methodist Church, with Rev. James Ellison, pastor, and Rev. Curtis Brown, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Mrs. Hammond died at 3 p.m. Friday at the home of her daughter. Mrs. George Wilborn. just east of Olney on Jean Highway She had been in failing health since suffering a broken hip in a fall two months ago.
A native of Marchficld, Mo., Mrs Hammond was born September 14. 1864. and lived in and around Olney for 50 years, having moved here from Bosque County She was a Methodist.
Survivors: four sons - C.C. Hammond, Mike Hammond and Charlie Hammond; daughter - Mrs. George Wilborn; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren.
