CLARK DORSEY TODD SR., 94, of Huntington, W.Va., died September 19, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born December 4, 1911, the son of Clark Lewis Todd and Ruth Dorsey Todd. His loving mother, Ruth Todd, died when he was 13 years old, and he and his younger sister, Margaret, were raised and nurtured by their late stepmother, Iva B. Todd. In addition to his parents and stepmother, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Suzanne Langley Todd. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Johnson of Harborcreek, Pa.; two sons, Clark Dorsey Todd Jr. and wife Sally of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; David Todd and wife Marla of Tacoma, Wash.; four grandchildren, Christopher Todd, Kendall Rowley, Eric Todd and wife Kate, and Brian Todd and wife Jennifer; and six great-grandchildren. He was a 1936 graduate of Marshall College. During his career as an industrial engineer, he worked for International Nickel Co.; United States Steel; Excello Corp.; Princess Coal Co.; and Pittston Coal Co. Our father's approach to life was always shaped by what he read. While the fine arts stimulated and gave him enjoyment, it was the ideas and lessons from literature's great novels and biographies that formed his gifts to us. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Peggy Adkins who assisted him for more than 7 years as caregiver and friend. There will be no funeral or visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Abby of Peace, Woodmere Cemetery, Huntington.
