Wilson G. Snyder Obituary

Park City - Wilson "Wils" Grant Snyder passed away unexpectantly March 27th, 2001 in Fallbrook, California where he spent the winters.

He was born on December 31, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He spent most of his childhood years growing up in Salt Lake City where he graduated from East High School. He then attended the University of utah and graduated with a business and accounting degree. He supported himself through school by working the summers in the silver mines in Park City and one summer in Yellowstone Park. Once he graduated he briefly attended Harvard Business School before returning to Salt Lake City. He served a brief stint in the Air Force in California where he reached the rank of Lieutenant. While in the Air Force he met Darylene Morey and they married in 1946,

Together Wils and Darylene moved back and forth between Salt Lake City and Newport Beach, California where Wils ran a car dealership and later worked for the Browning Arms Corporation in the Newport boat division.

They had two daughters Sandra and Tani. They divorced in 1963.

Wils met Bette Small in 1964 and they soon married and moved to Park City. They divorced in 1977. Wils bought the Sunset Plastics company in 1970 and sold it in 1980. Retired life for Wils didn't slow him a bit. He studied for and received his Realtor License, took Spanish and computer classes. Wils loved Park City and skied and golfed into his mid 70s. He especially loved the fact that his grandfather George Snyder founded and helped settle the Park City and Snyderville area.

Wilson is survived by Darylene and their daughters; Sandra Perlatti and Tani Doering, brother Joseph, sister Ruth Mundorff; sons Brett, Robert and Cody Small and daughter Marsha Hackley, all by marriage. Along with those children he is survived by eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Bismarck and Margaret and brother Bismarck and sister Elsie.

With his irascible wit, Wils made many friends and those friends lives were richer for knowing him. Wils lived life for the moment and made every moment count. You never left his presence without enjoying at least one fizz, laughting at one zinger and knowing he was one of a kind. Wils will be greatly missed but the memories of him will remain with us for a lifetime.

Graveside services will be held at the Park City Cemetery on Monday, April 2, 2001 at 11 a.m. After the services a celebration of Wil's life will be held at 3 Single Jack Court next to the public golf course in Park City. Arrangements are in the care of the Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, Heber City.
