Adam's parents Joseph R. Rainbolt SR. abt 1731-1791 NC. & Susannah Grindstaff abt 1736-1805.
Brothers and sisters, Elizabeth, Susannah, Adam R., Wm Reason, Elisha, John, Michael, Joseph JR.


Adam Rainbolt was born in Cape Fear, NC. His enlistment papers for the Revolutionary War, describe him as 5 ft. 6 in., grey eyes,light hair, and fair of face. Like John Storm, also buried in this cemetery, Adam serve for a time under Col. William Washington the the Heavy Cavalry. During the Revolutionary War, Adam took part in the bloody Battle of Cowpens, one of the battles that was the turning point of this war. The party he was in captured 63 prisoners. While serving as a juror many times, Adam on occassions was in and out of trouble with the law in TN. He was friends with Valentine VanHuss and Hezekiah Boone. Valentine's daughter, Elizabeth, was his son John's first wife, and Hezekian Boone (Daniel's cousin) was the grandfather of John's second wife, Freelove Boone. Aaccording to his request for a pension as a soldier in 1832, Adam moved to Greene Co., IN in 1826. His penison was granted in 1834, just before his death. Adam's wife was Jane Potter.
