William Levi Cochran was the son of Thomas Worth Cochran and Martha Jane (Bailey) Cochran.

He married Jennie Baines on 24 Feb 1897 in Swain Co, NC. Performed by: J.R. Pender, Justice of the Peace at the home of Samuel G Baines. John Brendle, Thomas Brendle and Beaureaugard Kirkland, witnesses.

Five children would be born to this union:
1) John Coleman Cochran (1898-1970)
2) Sammie Cochran (1900-1900)
3) Ellis William Cochran (1903-1978)
4) Arthur Roosevelt Cochran (1905-1975)
5) Frank Cochran (1908-1979)

He would precede Elizabeth in death.
