Mary was a daughter of Samuel J and Caroline GOODING Bliss Blount, widow of Capt. George M. Lynd, and mother of Caroline (Phelps) and Louise B. Lynd. She was also the sister of Rhoda, James, George, Caroline, Elva Lucretia, Frank A., Azuba, and half-sister of Philenzo P. Bliss, Jr.

Mary is in our Black family tree as my husband's maternal Great(2)Grand-Aunt via marriage.
