Son of Frank L. Johnson and Marion Lewis Patrick Johnson.

Walter, who resided in Cheswold, Delaware, served as a Private First Class and machine gunner with the 115th Infantry, 29th (Blue and Gray) Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on August 8, 1941, prior to the war, in Trenton, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Motor Vehicle repairman and as being Single, without dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" in La Forge, France during the war.

He had served in the Army for two years and eleven months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
