Born in Adebolt, Sac County, Iowa

Josephine Edna Andrews, daughter of Reuben Andrews and Lydia Morgan Andrews, was born March 12, 1884, in Odebolt, Iowa, and departed this life on November 2, 1969, in the Phillips county hospital at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 21 days.

On August 29, 1900, she was united in marriage to Andrew N. Rutherford at Stockton, Kansas. They made their home on a farm near Kirwin till retirement in 1945 at which time they moved to Kirwin. This union was blessed with five children. Andrew N. passed away May 4, 1948.

On February 29, 1956, she was married to W. W. Brotemarkle. They made their home in Kirwin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, W. W. Brotemarkle of Kirwin; 1 son, Douglas Rutherford of Phillipsburg; 4 daughters: Nona Keeten and Dottie Power, both of Cozad, Nebraska; Lydia Bartlett of Stockton, Kansas; and Mildred Waters of Kensington, Kansas, and two brothers: Scott Andrews of Glade, Kansas, and Fred Andrews of Stockton, Kansas; 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Jose as she was called, was always cheerful with never a word of complaint. She lived for her family and will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held Wednesday afternoon, November 5, in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Evans, officiating.

Hymns were sung by Ronald Fischli, accompanied by his wife, Anna Mae.

Casket bearers were James Lemon, Wes Kitchen, Theron Wyley, Oliver Stroup, Charles McDowell, and Al Stackhouse.

Interment was in the Kirwin Cemetery.
