"Gerald G. "TONY" SCHEER, 69. -- Services for Gerald G. "Tony" Scheer, 69, of Arlington who died April 21, 1995 at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Rev. Michael L. Rogers and Rev. Robert Paulson are officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Gerald G. "Tony" Scheer was born August 6, 1925 at Arlington. He lived all his life at Arlington and was a graduate of Arlington High School.
He served in the United States Army from December 8, 1948 to December 7, 1949. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served on the board of finance and as an usher. He also served on the Arlington Town Board for years, was a former member of the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the founders of the Sportsman Club. He operated Tony's Shoe Shop in Arlington for about thirty years. He also worked at George A. Hormel & Co. in Fremont, retiring from Hormel in May of 1984.
He married Joan Dein on March 25, 1950 in Arlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hannah Krug Scheer and a sister, Gretchen Sheets.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons and a daughter-in-law, Cal and Nancy Scheer of Arlington and George Scheer of San Francisco, California; a daughter, Deb (Mrs. Larry) Walla of Linwood, Nebraska; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Lila Scheer of Arlington; a sister, Adeline Lucas of St. Louis, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Myrtle Scheider of Blair and two grandsons, Ben Scheer and Matt Scheer.
Honorary pallbearers are Paul Menking, Jerry Anderson, Dave Scheer, Rod Grefe, Wilbur Clements and Paul Sorensen.
Pallbearers are Ben Scheer, Dale Scheer, Ronnie Scheer, Bill Lucas, Jack Frost and Charlie Cappelear.
Joyce Dunklau is organist. Susan Rogers and Curtis Schmidt are soloists. Memorials may be directed to the Arlington Rescue Squad or St. Paul's School at Arlington. Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Homeis in charge of arrangements."
