Leona attended school only to the 8th grade as she had to quit to care for the home and Dad, because her mother passed away.

About the age of twenty-two, Leona was living in an apartment house, working in a laundry, where she supervised twelve workers. When she would come home, there would be a fellow sitting on her step waiting for her arrival. Finally one day, she said to him, "Am I going to have to marry you as not to stumble over you to get in my door way?" He said, "Good, I've benn hoping you would ask me." This fellow, George Washington Fredregill, was the son of her friend, where they had met, when both happened to visiting at the same time.

Leona and George were married August 14, 1929, Littleton, Colorado. They were parents of Beatrice ("Bea" Burner of Hennessey).

When the depression hit and George was laid off his job, He called his father, who lived in Dover, OK to see if work could be found there. His father told him to come on down and he could work on the farm.

Mrs. Fredregill can remember the dust bowl days and hopes it never happens again.

Leona recalls sleeping on a corn shuck mattress until they could afford a better one.

Leona and George retired from the farm and moved to Enid, OK, where he passed away, July 23, 1977.

Mrs. Fredregill is a member of the Baptist Church.
