Toledo Newspaper - 1897
Martin Blosser was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, May 17, 1828, and died April 20, 1897, aged 68 years, 13 months and 3 days. When he was quite young his parents moved to Perry county, Ohio, and from that place later on to Adams county, Indiana. In 1855 he came to Tama county, Iowa, and made his home from that time, about 3 miles west of Toledo. April 12, 1865, he was married to Isabel Harper. To them were born three children, one daughter preceded him to the better land about twelve years ago. Mrs. C. Jud Berger and Mrs. Barton Duguid with their mothers are left to mourn the loss of an affectionate father and loving husband. The deceased leaves a sister in Adams county, Ind., and a brother in Franklin county, Kansas. Since the death of a daughter, about twelve years ago, he observed family worship in the home daily, and used to be delighted with his grandchildren when they would sing to him the songs they learned in Sunday school, especially that one with the chorus beginning "At the Cross." He too would sing with them. The funeral services were held at the house, conducted by Rev. J. Bretnall, pastor of the M.E. church. The neighbors and friends gathered to sympathize with the family for the death was very sudden. He arose in his usual health that morning, feeling no premonitions of sickness or death. As he was about to catch a chicken for his wife to dress for dinner he fell over and was dead. The body was laid to rest in hope in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo.
