CLEBURNE ― Earnest Adcock, a farmer and meter reader for the city of Joshua, died Wednesday at a Cleburne nursing home. He was 85.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home in Cleburne. Burial will be in Caddo Cemetery, west of Joshua.

Mr. Adcock was born in Johnson County and was a lifelong resident.

He was a member of Field Street Baptist Church.

Mr. Adcock's wife, Mattie Mae Moore Adcock, died in 1989.

Survivors: Two daughters, Laverne Walls of Cleburne and George Ann Steiner of Greenbrier, Tenn.; sister, Pearl McClain of Joshua; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
