He and Mildred were married on Thursday 3 November 1910 in Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County, Michigan, USA at Saint Luke's Episcopal Church. Their children included Kathryn Lorraine Palmer (18 Sep 1911 – 30 Aug 1990), Charles Daniel Palmer (b. 29 Aug 1913 – 15 Jun 1985) and Robert Harry "Bob" Palmer (28 Mar 1919 – 6 Jan 2003).
