Mrs. Erma Sparks Collins
August 15, 1919 - August 1, 2015

Mrs. Erma Sparks Collins, age 95, died on Saturday August 1, 2015 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a homemaker. She was a compassionate, loving, caring person and was known as “Granny” to everyone who knew her. Mrs. Collins loved to cook for her family and was known for her fried chicken and biscuits. Mrs. Collins loved to fish, and could outwork most men, and didn’t understand why she had sore muscles after picking up 200 lbs of pecans. She always had a sweet spirit. She loved God and was active in her church, Pine Grove Baptist, and the WMU. She was a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary. In her last year as a resident of Eagle Health and Rehabilitation she was known as the “Greeter” and was always trying to take care of the other residents. She was the last surviving of thirteen siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents Louise W. and Willie Lee Sparks, her husband Ben G. Collins, her grandchildren Mike Collins, Fran Collins, Nathan Collins and Scott Collins, and daughter-in-law Peggy Collins.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Steve Mascarello; two sons and a daughter-in-law William (Bill) Collins and Benny and Joann Collins all of Statesboro; five grandchildren Renee (Ron) Link, Joey (Tammy) Collins, Russell Collins, Steven (Tammy) Mascarello, Stephanie (Cannon) Deloach; seven great grandchildren; Heather Link, Erika (Raymond) Dixon, Spencer (Heather) Mascarello, Makenzie Deloach, Mikal Mascarello, Macie Deloach and Myleigh Deloach; three great great grandchildren Kaylee Mascarello, Ansley Dixon and Emmye Grace Mascarello; several nieces and nephews also survive.
