Above mentioned music composer and also teacher/Superintendent of Shelby County Industrial School for Boy's in TN. He wrote many songs but one in particular was 'Little Colleen' that he dedicated to my grgrgrandmother, Mrs. John Coleman Kalleen. The first line is "I am thinking of thee". She was born Louisa Mae Laing in Canada and married in 1875 aforementioned John. John was superintendent of many boy's homes including "Bonnie Oaks" in Chattanooga, TN, Chicago, IL, Wash. D.C., N.J.(last he retired from) so my guess is they met thru business connections, but does seem like an intimate song for a married woman. She was a very beautiful woman, but Thomas was married about 1874 to a lady named Jennie from NY. (is said he was madly in love with her.) My John C was also born and raised in NYC and being as I know nothing about his parents other than they were both from Ireland. I want to learn more about Thomas' wife who could possibly be related to John. I have never seen mention of her last name. They had a daughter named Jennie also so hoping someone will know more on this couple.
