Hannah B. (Russell) Brackett was born May 22, 1838, at Greenwood, Oxford County, Maine, the daughter of Benjamin and Mahala (Wright) Russell. She was married to Joel Whitman Brackett, October 30, 1857, in Maine and to this union five children were born, Almoren Russell Brackett, Fred Augustus Brackett, Sarah Louise Brackett, Mary Ama (Amy) Brackett and Charles Joe Brackett. The first three children were born in Maine. They moved to Massachusetts then went to Texas County, Missouri where the last two children were born.
After Joel died in 1904, she moved to Arkansas and lived with Charles Joe and his wife Mary (Evans) Brackett. She died May 21, 1928 and is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Banner, Cleburne County, Arkansas.
Grandmother Brackett, may you rest in peace. I wish I had known you.
